Description
Up for bid: Vintage WW1 British Military INVICTA MARK V PILOTS COCKPIT WATCH. Circa 1916-7. Commissioned for the Royal Flying Corps. The watch measures 52mm in diameter. The dial reads "30 Hour Luminous Mark V B.D. 1197. The enamel or porcelain dial is in very good condition with no cracks, chips, or crazing. The case back has the British Government Broad Arrow on it and the "A". Inside the case back it reads "Invicta". The movement reads "Invicta Mfg Co. La Chaux De Fonds Switzerland". The hands can be set and the watch can be wound, but the balance is broken. I replaced the crystal as the original was scratched & yellowed. I will include the original crystal in case someone wants to keep it's originality. Comes with the outer protective case which is marked "25 1/2" on the back. The packing would have been put in place to keep the watch from rattling in the case. There's some good information on the Web about these specific time pieces. Feel free to e-mail with any questions. On Oct-12-22 at 08:12:34 PDT, seller added the following information:
Just to be clear - the watch is not running. At the very least, it will likely need a new balance staff. I am not a watchmaker nor do I do any repairs on watch movements. I am a watch enthusiast and have some basic knowledge of how the mechanisms work.
