    Description

The movement, manufactured for Ball by the American Waltham Watch Company, is a 16 size, 19 jewel, stem wind, lever set, model 1899, Official Railroad Standard grade, pocket watch in hunting configuration.  It features screw set raised gold jewel settings, gold center wheel, the iconic Ball circular damascened nickel finish, as well as the Official RR Standard seal on the barrel bridge. Serial number of B202555 puts the date of production to 1899.  Winding and setting both function as they should.  This scarce model is in excellent condition showing only light scuffs to the bright nickel finish and a couple spots of very minor oxidation to the ratchet wheel and click.  Watch runs very stong and keeps good time.
The single sunk white enamel dial, signed "Trade Mark Official RR Standard Ball Watch Co. Cleveland", is in pristine condition showing no chips, cracks, or crazing.  It features large black Arabic numerals for hours with dot and dash minute margin.  The plum colored steel spade hands are in excellent condition with an attractive patina.
The twenty year yellow gold filled hunting case, manufactured by the Keystone Watch Case Company, is in excellent condition showing no wear through of the gold fill and only scattered light scuffs and scratches with no significant dents or dings.  Engraving on the exterior of the case is in beautiful condition with excellent detail and definition.  Case lid springs open when the crown is depressed as it should and closes securely.  Case back and cuvette both close tightly.  All three case hinges are in excellent condition with no play.  Bow is tight and secure to the pendant and the crown is in excellent condition providing good grip for winding and setting. Excluding the pendant, the case measures 51.30 mm across.  Acrylic crystal is in excellent condition showing only very faint scuffs.
This very rare railroad approved hunting case pocket watch, to Ball's standards no less, would make an amazing addition to any collection.  Don't miss this one!
